The Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1 plays its round of 16 this Thursday: 15 matches split between Centre Court and Court 1 at the Allianz Cloud from 9:30 (local time; 04:30 in Argentina). In the women's draw it is debut day for the top four pairs; in the men's, the eight favourites fight for a place in the quarter-finals.
Galán's fortress
Four editions of the Milano P1, four finals and three titles: that is Ale Galán's record at the Allianz Cloud, the court where he has won more than anywhere else on tour. He lifted the trophy in 2022 and 2023 alongside Juan Lebrón, lost the 2024 final to Tapia-Coello and reigned again last year with Fede Chingotto. Nobody has won more in Milan.
This Thursday the defending champions close Centre Court against the pair that produced Wednesday's shock: Xisco Gil and Ramiro Valenzuela knocked out Tello-Arce (9) in two hours and 18 minutes (2-6, 6-3, 7-6) and are playing their first Tour event together. Chingalán have been warned.
There is more: Galán and Chingotto share their half of the draw with Lebrón-Augsburger, who play earlier in the afternoon session against Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi (10). The 'Lobo' won Milan in 2022 and 2023 with Galán but has fallen in the semi-finals on his last two visits to the Allianz Cloud. That potential semi-final is the match the tournament is waiting for.
The six champions, spread across four pairs
Milan's women's draw began in 2023 and has produced six champions since: Brea and Bea González (2023), Triay and Claudia Fernández (2024) and Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría (2025). All six are back on court today, spread across the draw's top four pairs: Brea plays with Triay, Bea González with Josemaría, Ari Sánchez with Andrea Ustero and Claudia Fernández with Martina Calvo.
Today's order of play: Sánchez-Ustero (3) open Centre Court at 9:30 against Lucía and Araceli Martínez; then Triay-Brea (1) take on Caldera-Cánovas, who entered the draw as lucky losers. In the afternoon, Josemaría-Bea (2) play no earlier than 18:00 against Rufo-Iglesias, while Fernández-Calvo (4) do the same on Court 1 no earlier than 17:00 against Castelló-Rodríguez.
Court 1 also opens the day with Salazar-Osoro (8) against Dal Pozzo and Nuria Rodríguez, in a first slot with Italian flavour: the two home players still alive, Dal Pozzo and Orsi, are both in action inside the first two hours. Later, Icardo-Jensen (6) — with Tamara Icardo back after missing Paris, Rotterdam and Germany — meet Virseda-Fassio. And keep an eye on the draw: Ortega-Araújo (5) are already in the quarter-finals without playing, after Teresa Navarro's injury left Borrero-Navarro unable to take the court.
The world No. 1s and the race to Barcelona
Tapia-Coello (1) — champions in Milan in 2024 — take the fourth slot on Centre Court against Jiménez-Arroyo (14) after their 6-3 6-3 on Wednesday. The day could also shake up the Race to the Barcelona Finals (December 9-12): Tello and Arce (17th and 19th in the standings) damaged their chances by falling in the round of 32, on the very day Edu Alonso (18th) and Aimar Goñi moved through — and today they meet the 2022 and 2023 champions.
The rest of the men's round of 16 completes a mouth-watering card: Stupa-Sanz (4) against García-Ruiz (13), Di Nenno-Paquito (5) closing Court 1 against Garrido-De Pascual (16), Yanguas-Lijó (8) facing Alfonso-Libaak (15), Momo González-Campagnolo (7) against Bautista-Bergamini (11) and Diestro-Sintes — the pair who took out Jofre-Esbrí in the tournament's first upset — against Guerrero-Leal (6).
