Padel: 18K is no longer exclusive

Three years ago carbon 18K was reserved for two or three top-tier models. Today it shows up across the whole €250-and-up band, and brands lead with it as a selling point ahead of the core.

That's a problem for the buyer: the face weave matters less than the rubber for final feel, but it's what goes big on the box. We dig into that in the carbon guide.

Diamond dominates signature paddles

Among models with a player attached in the catalog, most are diamond or hybrid leaning diamond. It makes commercial sense — those are the smashers' paddles on tour — but it explains why so many people buy a paddle that doesn't match their game.

The "comfort" tier appears

The most interesting thing in recent years isn't 18K: it's the softened versions of aggressive models. Bullpadel Vertex 04 Comfortfrom 95,90 € keeps the original's shape but drops the hardness, and the "Light" lines brands have been adding to their top ranges go the same way.

It's the brands' answer to elbow injuries, and probably the most useful trend of the last two years for the average player.

Tennis: everything converges on 100 inches

In the tennis catalog, the 100 in² head size has eaten the entire mid-range. The 95-98 in² survives only in the pure-control tier (Wilson Blade 98 16x19 v10from 169,99 €), and oversize heads are relegated to beginners.
